What most Pc makers won’t tell you-Buyers Guide

Diving through this topic, I made a resolution not to trail after negative secrets as each pc companies do well on their choice of build?….or should I spill out the truth of this so you would clap me?….ok., I decide to follow my legacy built on facts leading to trust, so lets begin,

Heading to a store for a laptop what occurs to most minds are the need of getting one with the basics talking about achievable specs as keyboard light to ram size ssd vs hdd full keyboard layout and the rest. Few wonder after the processor type, if its ruing i3 i5 i7 and as funny as it sounds most buyers jump happily after the term i7 feeling its performance is beyond measure and with that feeling they pay and go in as much as the laptop is in the condition as earlier mentioned.

There is great need in the knowledge we”re trying to convey here which leaves us with the questions like

  • What are Pc manufacturers not saying on their ads
  • Are they suppose to tell us
  • Or are we suppose to fetch this facts before point of purchase

Well, those question vary from different perpectives as am not here to blame any party either my thrill is for the love of the little-my little thoughts, so would I judge me for this? lets find out for you know how to get in touch…..see here

What are Pc manufacturers not saying on their ads-

  • Screen quality
  • Build materials
  • Generation of processor

I know you might sk which ads? do they still give one? or which ads I got to say all this?… well your curious minds is up to your control so I’ll spike my thoughts in a somewhat brief summary

Screen quality: This is one aspect that is always left unchecked for reasons not known or maybe the i5/i7 naming is what we re after and this category is left out of the group. Mind you, a good screen could affect both your sight and comfort zone yielding to time spent on this actual pc. The panel available are ranging from the most used ones which are TN panel, IPS LCD panel and OLED panel. This panel in the actual sense gives you the display you need but not such you want,. why do I say that, the reason is Yes you got a pc without a broken screen or whatever defect so the average Joe would want to be okay with whatever he’s paying for but wait that would be futile that’s why you are reading this through, so lets dive in the differences and in a summary why a panels better than the other and how it could affect our choice when aiming for a new purchase.

TN panel is not better than IPS because the viewing angle of the ips panel provide what we call better viewing angle which entails that the colour are more accurate that the TN one which stands for twisted nematic panel. In all aspect, the Ips panel is visually better than the Tn where colours in the TN panel looks washed out and a bit grey with low brightness which cannot be changed for that was how such laptop was configured out of the factory. Now if you got one already my advice is, since its still feeling your needs you just go on with it but not same for a prospective buyer.

So far we’ve punched out the better panel in the war between ips and tn panel. what about how to spot out the ips panel from a tn panel in the market.

  • Ask a seller from a reputable store
  • if you ignore point one, then buy with discretion USE YOUR EYE TO REMOVE TN FROM IPS

Assuming the seller is not honest then check out the image below to understand the concept before visual practice ;

In Plane Switching- Twisted Nematic display

in the above image the pattern difference tells a lot on the improvement done on the IPS display for the RGB green colour set projects for saturation compared to the TN panel.. lets check this out

The above arrows points to the part of the colour most vivid to the eyes which the IPs panel has an aligned vertical patterns for compared to the Tn panel

under display Oled is the most elegant and considered one of the best screen ever as it features higher contrast and peak brightness when it comes to colours and vividness this display is know to manage a black background better the any other display since it has no backlit but each pixels generate its own light diode its is considered the very best but when used in a careless high brightness overtime would lead to burn-in. This happen when one static image is displayed on screen without turning off which makes such image remain burnt to the display but under careful use this issue could be avoided overtime and most maunfacturers like apple or even Samsung are best known to curtail this so all you would need is careful use while some would imagine the possibility of leaving screen on for a Prolong time like 5000Hrs which really is rare for a pc operator.

Build material: This category is still an essential part of your new purchase. most manufacturers like Dell, Asus, Hp uses body materials from polycarbonate literally a hard plastic to aluminium known as soft metal. Apple has for a very long while maintained your standard of using an aluminium chassis on this macbooks ever since 2009 apple introduced the unibody MacBook line till date. in a sense the plastic vs aluminum cannot competed in this gadget line because of build=durability so therefore there is no debate where a plastic build would be better than an aluminium In the laptop line for one thing aluminium feels premium and able to withstand fall better than plastic no matter the marketing name used it’s still and always a plastic build prone to both cosmetic scratch and breakage of body line after fall which in the long run affect delicate components inside, in a nut shell build quality cannot be over emphasised.

Generation of processor: Intel the number one semiconductor maker is known for manufacturing proccessors in the computer line. A lot is to be told under this section as ineligible is known to classify the naming of their chips to what is known as tick or tock. in a brief summary the use o that logical name means a lot in the quality of what’s given out pending on what a user wants in a system. I say the major difference between both is power effiency over actual torque displaced.

The tick version is an introduction of the said module in a certain year, intel is best known to aim at power efficieny of pc over what strength it can displace. Take for instance the MacBook 2015 13inch running on i5 5th generation is on the tick set features two physical core called a dual core with hyperthreading where the system uses four logic but not phyiscal core while the model introduced that same year in the mid part of the year runs on and i7 but 4th generation is on the tock set. being that this model runs on i7 by default it features better torque which is on the power section for its driven by four physical core with hyper threading too capable of running eight logic core under heavy use.

So far we’ve discussed a plethora of points leading to summary and the rest but if a laptop is what you what to get I hope this said items will serve as a guide to your purchase and I’ll welcome your comment in the box as its always your securedbox see you next time.
